Hiking Trail Description
A series of day trails in the vanity of Storm’s River.
The Department of Forestry and Water Affairs offers a wide range of outdoor activities in the Tsitsikamma State Forest.
Direction:
The N2 from Humansdorp or Plettenberg Bay takes you to the Storm’s River area.
Plaatbos Walk:
Various options from 800 m to 12 km circular or linear; start at the Paul Sauer Bridge Picnic Site or at the Forest Station at Storms River Village.
Walk to Oubrug Picnic Site:
About 5km; circular; starts and ends at the Forest Station at Storms River Village; follow the gravel road (the Ou Pas) to the picnic site on the banks of the Storms River; braai facilities; swim in the river.
Goesa Walk:
2 km; easy; starts at the Forest Station at Storms River Bridge and passes through indigenous forest.
Rugbos Walk:
Three different circular routes of 1.3, 1.4 and 3.1 km respectively; start at the Rugbos Picnic Site or Bloukrans Forest Village Craft Market.
Storm’s River Cycle Route:
22 km; 3 to 4 hours; circular; starts at the police station at Storm’s River Village; cycle through indigenous forest, pine plantations and fynbos.
Access to some facilities is by means of self-issue permits at various unmanned access points. Certain access points are manned and entry fees will be levied.
