Hiking Trail Description
Located in the area of the Winterberg Range between Balfour and Seymour. The historic Katberg Pass forms a focal point of this scenic mountain trail. Hikers pass through a region of scenic splendour: clear rivers with waterfalls, grassy summits, forested ravines and sweeping plantations. Small mammals (baboon, vervet and samango monkey, small antelope) and a variety of birds, including the rare Cape parrot, may be seen.
Direction:
Turn off from road to Seymour and Queenstown. The R67 and R351 converge near Seymour.
Duration:
Walks: 1 to 4 hours.
Hiking Trail: 2 days / 40 km.
Mountain bicycle trail along existing forestry and secondary roads.
Horse-riding trails.
An overnight hut on the circular Katberg Trail. Katberg Protea Hotel.
